Lunar, formerly called Lunar X, is a pop-up Lunar New Year Art exhibition curated by Quynh-Mai Nguyen. The pop-up gallery started in 2018 during the Year of the Dog and has been producing art exhibitions for the past 8 years.

Theme: Year of the Fire Horse, Tết, Lunar New Year
Media: All visual mediums will be considered for the exhibition including print, digital,
illustration, photography, 3D, mixed media, poetry, etc.# Submissions:
---- Artists are allowed to submit up to 2 pieces for consideration.
---- No Fee to submit.Max Size: 9"x12" max for artwork, 11"x"14" max for frame. Any sizes that are larger or require a pedestal must be approved in advance.
Framing: Artwork must be framed / installation ready for the wall via hooks, wire, or tooth hangers.
All Artwork in Exhibition must be for Sale:
---- A 40% gallery commission is taken from all art sales to support the continuation of this program and covers installation, production, marketing, and performing artists. 60% goes back to artists.
---- Please price your artwork accordingly to the percentage breakdown.
---- Artists interested in selling prints during exhibition through ABC require approval. Please let us know in Additional Comments section.Must be Original Artwork
Vending: Vending TBD dependent on weather, if you are interested in vending, please leave me a note in the Additional Comments section and I will email vendors separately.
Performing: If you are interested in performing, please leave me a note in the Additional Comments section and I will email performers separately.
Notes: We ask that participating artists please do not duplicate their artwork and/or exhibit/sell your art at another gallery show in San Jose or neighboring cities. You are allowed to participate in other shows, just create new work. Lunar has always been grassroots/volunteer-run program and we spend a lot of time to install, host, and promote your work to be sold. Duplicating artwork makes it harder to sell.
Waiver: Approved participating artists will be required to sign a participation and release of liability form upon drop-off of artwork.

Open Call: 12/29/25 - 2/1/26
Notifications: 2/2/26
Artwork drop off due: Thursday 2/19/26. For earlier drop-off please msg directly.
Artists are encouraged to apply to express interest in participating in the show. If your piece is not done, please submit progress shots of your piece for consideration into the show.
